Our intent for this day is to introduce and explore the Aramaic prayer of Jesus.
The Lord’s Prayer is frequently called “the perfect prayer” in part because Jesus said, “this is how you should pray.”
Jesus spoke Aramaic, the language of the time. The Lord’s Prayer, translated back to his native tongue captures layers of meaning for each word and phrase, as a result, it is transformative.
The Aramaic Jesus Retreat reveals these layers of meaning by examining the brilliant and rich translation of Dr Neil Douglas-Klotz.
"We will be listening to Jesus as a Middle Eastern mystic to explore the richness and depth of expression in this prayer."
— We will use melodies, chanting, body prayer and dance to feel and pray this prayer with our heart and our head. We will conclude the celebration by dancing the entire prayer.
